What is better than a natural skincare line based on ancient beauty remedies that connects one’s confidence in their inner and outer beauty? Skincare products that also provide ethical and fair trade employment, and therefore, improved lives to impoverished women and families. All these reasons and my personal experience using products from Bella Aura, show that the brand truly reflects it’s name, a beautiful aura.

Bella Aura’s mission is simple yet inspiring: they’ve created a clean, luxury skincare line  with ingredients and formulas that blends modern science with ancient spiritual knowledge drawing from ancient Berber, Chinese, and Mediterranean herbal medicine and healing traditions. Bella Aura works with leading chemists and cosmetic scientists to develop simple, natural, multifunctional solutions and results for all skin types. The brand’s product formulas aids in creating beautiful skin, inspiring confidence in one’s self, reflected in both inner and outer beauty.

The luxury Canadian brand also takes part in ethical and fair trade operations. All ingredients are personally sourced in Morocco from co-operatives that cultivate the botanical ingredients used in Bella Aura products, and provide employment to impoverished families. These co-operatives empower Moroccan women to earn an income, helping to support their families and themselves. Bella Aura also participates in programs ensuring for the improvement of Moroccan families in need, such as sponsoring children’s education and donating food and clothing. With my first pump of Bella Aura’s Gentle Purifying Cleanser,  I knew it would be a cleanser fit for my dry, sensitive skin. The texture is milky-creamy and oh-so-hydrating–a dry skin-sufferer’s dream cleanser combination. While the brand describes this as a “foaming cleanser”, I’d beg to differ that the effect is more of a gentle, substantial, cream cleanser. I found it effectively rids the skin of impurities (including makeup) while leaving the skin very hydrated, deeply cleansed, and smooth. This cleanser’s formula and ability to remove eye makeup gently and effectively, reminded me of a lighter, more pliable natural cold-cream product, perfect for those quick (but necessary,) end-of-day cleanses.

This cleanser’s great variety of natural ingredients like argan oil, prickly pear oil, neroli, and nigella sativa, work to purify and protect the skin from harmful factors, while boosting radiance and ensuring deep nourishment and hydration.

Initially, I felt that the cleanser’s scent was quite herbal-y for my taste (that’s due to the inclusion of natural neroli), but definitely not as extreme as others I have tried. Over time, I did come to appreciate the cleanser’s soothing, woody scent. Overall, I’ve found that this cleanser is a great product for regularly cleansing sensitive, dry skin like mine. It nourishes and cleanses so nicely without parching skin. I loved adding this cleanser to my morning and nighttime routines. $49 for 100ml/3.3 Fl. oz.

L to R: Antioxidant Booster, Gentle Purifying Cleanser

Even though I was quite confused on how exactly to classify the Antioxidant Booster, (is it a facial serum, a cream, or a targeted treatment?) I was very intrigued to try it out. Since Bella Aura only describes that the Booster is “designed for dull and overworked skin, acne, dark spots and tired skin” and instructs users to apply to the face before a sunscreen or serum product, I decided I’d view the Booster as a supplemental face product.

The product’s natural formula helps to nourish, replenish and rejuvenate skin through rich vitamins, minerals, and omega 3-6-9 fatty acids. The formula reduces the appearance of impurities like acne or dark spots, helps support the skin’s natural collagen, and prevents damaging effects of free radicals, while purifying and refreshing the skin’s surface.

I applied this product by mixing it with my daily moisturizer in the mornings, and with facial serum at night. The texture is a more weighty cream that becomes light and airy when rubbed into skin. I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and less irritated my skin felt and appeared. With continued use, the Antioxidant Booster did seem to lessen the redness of my skin, quickly lessen acne and prevent breakouts, and provides a nice extra “boost” to my daily moisturizer or serum. If anything, this product adds an additional layer of nourishment and protection for my skin. I like how quickly it sinks into skin and provides instantly smooth and breakout-free skin. This product also has a faint, herbal scent (thanks to the natural neroli ingredient), which I do not normally prefer, but it also becomes less noticeable with wear and if mixed with other products (serums or creams).

It’s quite pricey at $125, but an extremely decadent treat for the skin. Especially if you are searching for something powerful to combat dull, tired skin. I really love the flexibility of this product, that it can easily be added to my skincare routine as needed, or used regularly. $125 for 30ml/1 Fl.oz.
